The Open University has its headquarters at Walton Hall, in Milton Keynes which is midway between London and Birmingham, and Oxford and Cambridge. The OU is sited on the South East side of Milton Keynes. It is close to Junctions 13 and 14 of the M1.
How to get to the race
By Rail
The University is about four miles from Milton Keynes Central station, on the London (Euston) to Birmingham line. MK Central is an Intercity stop. Trains are frequent and the journey time from Euston varies between 35-60 minutes. For more rail travel information consult, for example, http://www.nationalrail.co.uk.
By Taxi
Taxis can be found outside the MK Central Station. The OU is five minutes drive from the station.
By Road
Travelling on the M1, leave at Junction 14. Follow signs for Milton Keynes, taking A509 to first roundabout (Northfield roundabout). Take first left A5130 signposted to Woburn Sands for two miles. At next roundabout (Kingston roundabout) with BP garage on left, take third exit signposted A5/Aylesbury/Dunstable/Walnut Tree/Universities. Go straight over the next roundabout (Walnut Tree). Go straight over the next roundabout (Walton) and take the first right turn (Walton Drive) which leads you into the Open University campus.
Travelling south on A5, take the turn-off to Milton Keynes south, then at the Redmoor roundabout take the first exit onto Grafton St (V6). At the next (Bleak Hall) roundabout turn right onto Standing Way (H8). Continue along Standing Way past four roundabouts (Coffee Hall, Hospital, Marina and Netherfield). At the Kents Hill roundabout turn right into Brickhill St (V10). The entrance to the OU is on the right at the second (University) roundabout. Note that Groveway (H9) is closed for major bridge repairs just outside the OU.
Travelling north on the A5, at a large roundabout with a little chef on the left, take the last exit signed MK East and Bedford (A421). At next mini-roundabout, head across the level crossing onto Brickhill Street (V10). Straight on at next roundabout (Tilbrook). Staight on at next roundabout (Walton Park). At next roundabout (Walton), turn left on to Groveway (H9) and take first right (Walton Drive) to enter the OU Campus.
Please allow enough time for your journey. We suggest that you arrive at least an hour before the event.

Parking
There are plenty of parking spaces available on site. Marshals will direct you to the car parks. Please do NOT park on the roadside at the OU unless instructed to do so.
Information
There will be an information point at the race HQ in the Old Lecture Theatre behind Walton Hall at the centre of the Campus.
Baggage
Old Lecture Theatre. Although we cannot guarantee the security of your bags, there will be a manned baggage area for you to leave your bags in. If you have travelled by car, it might be safer to leave your bags and valuables in your car boot. If you do leave your baggage in the Old Lecture Theatre, you will be issued with a luggage tag. Write your number on the tag and this will make identification after the race easier.
Changing
Men and Women’s changing is available in the Sports Pavilion. A limited number of showers are also available at the pavilion.
Course
The course is flat and is run on the roads and bicycle paths that dissect MK (all tarmacadam). The course is a one-lap course. There will be mile markers at each mile.
Water
Water will be available three times on the course and at the finish.
First Aid
Medical support will be present on the course and at the finish. You should be relatively fit and have no known medical conditions. Please note – do not run with a cold or flu. This can be extremely dangerous.
Toilets
Situated on the OU campus.
Prizes
will be awarded on the day.
Timing & Results
Please ensure that your race timing chip is tied securely to your shoe laces. We will also have a race clock at the finish line. Results will appear on the Milton Keynes Athletic Club web site (www.mkac.org.uk) from Sunday evening, and on the www.mkhalf.co.uk web site from Monday 12th March.
Not Running?
If you are not running, we will require you to return your race chip. Failure to do so will result in us charging you £10 as this is what we'll be charged for lost chips by the chip provider. You have been sent an envelope with our address on - please put the chip in the envelope and return it to us.

Available for purchase in the Refectory by the Old Lecture Theatre.

Cancellations
We regret that once entry applications have been processed we cannot refund any entry fees to runners who do not eventually take part. In the event of the race being cancelled owing to forces outside the organisers’ control, we also regret that no entry fees can be refunded after entries have been processed.
